Fred J. Heller passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Montgomery County Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Fred was born July 1, 1931. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Audrey Heller, two brothers, Sammy and Vernon, two sisters, Della Pauline and Anna Elizabeth, and his first wife Bobbie Heller. Fred is survived by two sons, Barry Heller (Elizabeth) and Lynn Heller (Janis), grandson, Blake Heller (Saundra), granddaughter, Jessica, two brothers Billy Heller (Betty) and Russell Heller (Mary) and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
For someone that attained just an 8th grade education, Fred was instrumental in helping several people in business and life in general in many successful ventures. He stated H & H Electric in 1964. In 1977, he sold H & H Electric and started Fred Heller, INC. in general and utility construction, later changing to Heller Company, INC. During this time he built up a successful motor rewind business.
Fred had a passion for flying and held a private pilot’s license for many years. He was also an avid motorcycle rider. Theses interests let him meet many people and develop friendships wherever he went.
Toward the last of his life, he battled Alzheimer’s. Fred enjoyed getting out and visiting people and The Caring Place in Hot Springs allowed for some of that freedom and continued interaction for a good while before moving to the Montgomery County Nursing Home. Thank you all at The Caring Place. His time at the nursing home was special, from getting out and walking around the complex with staff to going on field trips to the farm, in-house activities such as singing, talking and visiting with all the people that surrounded him there. Fred felt the care and special attention he received at the nursing home. Our family would like to say a great thank you to all who were involved with Fred’s care.
